My Remembrance of Brother Ittai Cheng

In the early 1980s Brother Ittai Cheng was a young brother who loved the Lord. He and Andrew Yu, my husband, labored closely together in the Lord. They were really yoked together. They bore the same burden and spent every free minute in the service of the church. He and his delightful wife Sau Kwan kindly invited us to visit them in their small flat in Mong Kok. I was surprised that their kitchen had a vent, not for air to go out, but for air to come in, and asked him why. It was exhaust from the neighbor’s flat. He replied that we shouldn’t complain, because the poor neighbor has no window at all in his apartment. To me this seemed terrible, even pitiable. Plus, there was noisy entertainment until late in the night from the business beneath them! But then he explained that the reason they lived there was so that the Lord could establish a testimony in Mong Kok, the most densely populated area in all of Hong Kong. The Lord’s testimony today is really based on the sacrifice and service of the saints.
